The present study is an exploratory research investigating first year EFL students’translanguaging practices and teachers’ attitudes towards them in the department of English at the University of Algiers 2.For this matter, a mixed-method research design including the use of a questionnaire, a structured interview, and classroom observations was used. The outcomes of the study revealed that translanguaging is a highly common practice among the sample. It is used for a variety of reasons, and takes multiple forms. As for teachers’ attitudes, they were found to be ambivalent.

الدراسة الحالية عبارة عن بحث استكشافي يستقصي الممارسات متعددة اللغات لطلاب السنة الأولى في اللغة الإنجليزية كلغة أجنبية ومواقف المعلمين تجاهها في قسم اللغة الإنجليزية بجامعة الجزائر 2 . لهذا الغرض، استعمل تصميم بحث متعدد الأساليب يتضمن استخدام استبيان ، مقابلة منظمة ، و الملاحظات الصفية. كشفت نتائج الدراسة أن الممارسات متعددة اللغات شائعة للغاية بين العينة. يتم استخدامها لعدة أسباب ، وتأخذ أشكالًا متعددة. أما بالنسبة لمواقف المعلمين ، فقد وجد أنها متناقضة.
