The present study is a phenomenographic investigation into the students’ experience of studying Linguistics. It aimed at investigating the students’ conceptions and approaches to studying Linguistics. The study involved the participation of forty undergraduate students, all enrolled in the 2nd year in the Department of English at the University of Algiers 2. This study draws from phenomenography in designing, analyzing, and interpreting the data. The findings revealed various ways of interpreting the study of Linguistics in the context of the preset study.

دراسة ظاهرية لتجربة الطلاب في دراسة علم اللغة. هدفت إلى التحقق من مفاهيم الطلاب وأساليبهم في دراسة علم اللغة. شملت الدراسة مشاركة أربعين طالبا جامعيا، جميعهم مسجلون في السنة الثانية بقسم اللغة الإنجليزية بجامعة الجزائر 2. وتعتمد هذه الدراسة على الظواهر في تصميم البيانات,  تحليلها وتفسيرها. كشفت النتائج عن طرق مختلفة لتفسير دراسة علم اللغة في سياق الدراسة المعدة مسبقا.

        This thesis deals with the post-colonial problematic of tradition regeneration and cultural identity in the last three novels of the Nigerian writer Chinua Achebe, No Longer at Ease, A Man of the People and Anthills of the Savannah. The link between text and context is most explicitly highlighted in Achebe’s novels. The artistic elements of his texts (characterization and narrative mode) are employed basically as aesthetic devices to reflect his thematic orientations and the socio-cultural consciousness he is drawing on.

تعالج هذه الأطروحة إشكالية إحياء التراث و الشخصية الثقافية البوستكولونيالية في الروايات الثلاث الأخيرة للكاتب النيجيري شينوا أشيبي : لم يعد هناك إحساس بالراحة، رجل من الشعب، كثبان النمل في السفانا. فقد لمسنا في روايات أشيبي كيف أن الأدوات الجمالية و الأنماط التعبيرية تصور بشكل كبير التجارب الاجتماعية و التاريخية التي تقوم بسردها. فالعناصر الفنية لرواياته، مثل تمثيل الشخصيات و البنية السردية ، كلها تعكس التوجهات الموضوعاتية و المواقف الثقافية التي يحاول تسليط الضوء عليها فكريا و أدبيا. فهذه العلاقة القوية بين النص و السياق الواقعي المسرود هي خاصية واضحة و مميزة في روايات أشيبي.

Abstract

This thesis analyzes gender and identity in Toni Morrison's novels using Lacanian psychoanalysis and Judith Butler's theory of performativity. It explores how Morrison's characters internalize white beauty standards and face racial discrimination, affecting their self-identity. The research also incorporates Frantz Fanon and Pierre Bourdieu to further examine the socio-cultural influences on black women's identities. It contributes to literary analysis, critical race theory, and feminist studies by highlighting the intersection of race, gender, and systemic oppression.

تقوم هذه الأطروحة بتحليل الهوية وتشكيل النوع الاجتماعي في روايات توني موريسون باستخدام التحليل النفسي اللاكاني ونظرية الأداء لجوديث بتلر. تستكشف الأطروحة كيفية استيعاب شخصيات موريسون لمعايير الجمال البيضاء ومواجهتهم للتمييز العنصري وتأثير ذلك على هويتهم الذاتية. كما تدمج البحث أفكار فرانز فانون وبيير بورديو لفحص التأثيرات الاجتماعية والثقافية على هوية النساء السود. تساهم الدراسة في مجالات التحليل الأدبي ونظرية العرق النقدية والدراسات النسوية من خلال تسليط الضوء على تقاطع العرق والنوع الاجتماعي والاضطهاد المنهجي
